It’s possible that you may not know what it means to prepare to bug in. In order to understand the concept, first you need to understand completely what it means when I say prepare. Prepare for what?
Let’s take a look at how Merrriam-Webster defines the word, “prepare.” For our purpose, the one we will use is “to make ready beforehand for some purpose, use, or activity.” Let’s use preparing to cook dinner as an example. You don’t just walk into the kitchen, on over to the stove to turn it on and expect your dinner to cook. What are you having? Do you need to add things to it like a casserole? What are you using to grease the pan?
All of the answers take preparation, don’t they? You decide what you’re having, get the recipe if you need one, and then get everything ready ahead of time. It’s the same thing with preparing to bug in.
Prepare to Bug In
As you may recall from our Welcome Preppers page, “Bugging In or Bug In refers to having the ability to handle disturbances in the society, survival or emergency situations in the Home.” You need to know now how to prepare ahead of time. If you are going to prepare to bug in, you are going to need to get prepared – mentally and physically – so that you can survive should an emergency happen.
